Experience:
I have more than 30 years experience in mechanical packaging, thermal design and magnetics design (including
rotating machines) of power electronics equipment for commercial, military and space applications. Transformers
(and inductors) include power types and pulse transformers with operating frequencies ranging from power line to 500kHz
and wide band signal transformers for audio applications. Ferro-resonant regulators are a specialty. Rotating machines
include motors, generators and alternators (single and poly-phase).
Thermal design experience includes natural convection, forced convection and conduction cooling (including
liquid cooled chill plates and refrigeration systems when needed). I have many years experience in the development of
manufacturing tooling necessary to drive down recurring cost in high volume production environments. I have two degrees,
Electrical (BS) and Mechanical (MS), bringing that unique perspective to the packaging design process.
Tool Expertise:
I have a fully equipped machine shop and electronics lab and a facility for magnetics prototype development (linear and
toroidal form factors). I use AutoCad for mechanical concept development, documentation of piece-part physical
designs and footprint studies associated with proposed designs.
